A used car looks its best in a listing photo. An inspection looks underneath, reads the modules for codes the seller cleared, checks for hidden crash repair, and drives the car. The hour you spend here is the cheapest hour in the whole purchase.
On hybrids, the inspection includes a real high voltage pack test. A used Prius with a tired pack is a very different buy than one with a healthy pack. A dashboard with no warning light tells you nothing about the difference.
